Day 14: Something you craved today

The other day I went to the mall & as I walked pass by Clarins, the sales lady start speaking loudly to me when I didn’t even look at her. So I turned and she basically grabbed me & keeps telling me how great their whitening products are. She was pretty persuasive and I have to say I almost bought them. However, I know to never buy a product without doing research so I hold the thought!  Today, I'm craving whitening products, actually buying them has been on my mind for a while, I used Dior couple years ago  but I didn’t use a line, I only use the essence bottle because I felt buying the whole line is too expensive & unnecessary. The bad thing with me is consistency, so brightening process was not so successful because of the discontinue usage. This year I think I’m finally growing up and becoming more consistent at not just one but many things. So I thought I should give whitening another try.
Right now I am still kind of leaning toward Dior, Sekkisei or Shiseido. The Dior Snow line seems to be pretty popular, Shiseido and Sekkisei are popular/ made for Asians so it seems that they should work.
Dior Snow : White Reveal Essence: concentration of T.E.C.™ to target existing dark spots and help prevent the new ones. Moisturizes, illuminates and firms to fully reveal the vibrant translucency of a fresh, luminous complexion. 1.7 oz. $115

I will probably do some research and update this blog later & post which brand I finally decide to purchase. What whitening products do you buy if you use, if you don’t, have you consider it?

Twilight's Ashley Greene Talks Beauty Shop

NY Beauty Secrets Examiner Gabrielle Long recently chatted up Twilight/New Moon beauty Ashley Greene, who dished about her must-have products, favorite beauty icons and the reason behind her new bob.

Here's an excerpt:

Q: What is your daily beauty regimen?
A: I started using BORBA products... they're amazing and leave my face glowing. My daily regimen usually consists of the BORBA: Age Defying Micro Diamond Cleanser, Elastin Fiber Concentrate, HD Illuminating Light Effects Serum, Orbital Eye Rejuvenator and the Age Defying Advanced Recovery Cream. To get eye makeup off, I use the Lancome remover. I also use the MAC Wipes to get all the makeup off before my regimen. And of course sunscreen...usually Kiehl's or Dermalogica. Dermalogica also has a really great "special clearing booster" for spot treatment on blemishes.

Q: Is your regimen any different when you're filming?
A: It's a little more involved on set with hot towel treatments and Dermalogica precleanse to get all that white makeup off. We use a lot Dermalogica products...I love the Microfoliant!

Q: Do you like to wear makeup when not filming, or do you prefer to go natural?
A: I don't really wear foundation...I prefer tinted moisturizer if anything. Usually after the Borba process I don't need it - my skin is in pretty healthy shape. It's usually mascara, concealer and lip gloss.

Q: You recently cut your hair (and it looks great!). Was it for your role as "Alice", or something you wanted to do for yourself? Do you prefer it shorter or longer?
A: Thanks! I cut it to make my hair fit under the Alice wig properly. I didn't have to go quite so short but I figured it's the only time I would EVER do it. I'm a long hair girl... I've had long hair my whole life. It's cute short, but I'll grow it back out.

Q: In your opinion, what makes someone beautiful?
A: I think a lot of what makes someone beautiful is how a person presents themselves. I was talking to someone the other day about how I find French woman so beautiful... it's something they possess inherently. I feel like when someone has a zest for life they come off vibrant and beautiful.

Q: What are your favorite beauty products?
A: BORBA (all of which I mentioned) and Dermalogica. I love Matrix sleek products for my hair - they work very well for me. Rose bud lip gloss is the best. YSL has a great illuminating concealer. Shiseido you can't go wrong with either... their tinted moisturizer is great. I also just found this amazing line in Europe called "Becca;" their stuff is amazing... I have to stock up when I go back because it isn't sold in the US!

Q: Who is your beauty icon?
A: Audrey Hepburn is classically beautiful.

Q: Lip gloss or lip stain?
A: Gloss...and Chapstick.

MTV Movie Awards 2009 Makeup: Leighton Meester

For the 2009 MTV Movie Awards, CoverGirl makeup artist Molly R. Stern created a sexy and edgy look for Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester. "She wanted to look like herself while celebrating the rock ’n roll spirit of the night," says Molly.

"I started by basing her skin with Cle de Peau's new Cream Foundation in O20. For her blush, I used Shiseido's Accentuating Powder Blush in Glistening Brown."

"On her eyes, I based them with Vincent Longo's Liquid Eyeshadow in Midnight Mauve. Over that, on the inside lid into the crease, I dusted NARS Night Clubbing glittery powder eyeshadow. Inside her eye both bottom and top, I lined her eyes with CoverGirl Exact Eyelights Brightening Liner in Vibrant Pearl (NEW from CoverGirl, hitting shelves in late July!!). Her mascara is CoverGirl LashBlast Luxe in Black Emerald. And to finish the look, she is wearing CoverGirl Outlast Lipstain in Cinnamon Smile."
