Recessionista's Fabuless Pick of the Week: Rimmel Eyeful Eye Glistener

For this installment of Recessionista’s Fabuless Pick of the Week, I can’t think of a better product to plug than Rimmel Eyeful Eye Glistener. This liner’s wet. Yes, wet…got it goin’ like a turbo Vette.

This chubby pencil swathes lids in glossy color. Available in five shades, Eyeful can be applied to the entire eye as a shadow, or to the base of lashes as a liner.

Oh Rimmel, I wanna get wit ya…and take your picture.

Eyeful’s got it goin’ on. A lot of brands won’t like this song.
Cause them punks like to charge me a fortune, but I like to keep it cheap.

To the pricey pencils in the magazines, you ain’t it, Miss Thing.
Give me a fat, glossy eyeliner. At $7, it don’t get much finer.

Just 7 bucks?!?!? Child, I’m not lyin’.
Now you’re thinkin’ bout buyin’.

Rimmel Eyeful Eye Glisteners are sold at CVS, drugstore.com and ULTA.

Golden Globes Gorgeous: Jenna Fischer

How did Jenna Fischer, everyone’s favorite endearing secretary on NBC’s The Office, get her sexiest look yet for last night’s 66th Annual Golden Globes?

Make up artist Brett Freedman played up her new whimsical, boho-vibe with an extended eyeliner on the eyes and a little “out of the box glam” for the usually understated Jenna. What would Pam say?

Brett used the following products:

Foundation: LORAC Oil Free Powder Foundation in #02 (Light)

Loose Powder: Prescriptives Liquid Powder in Deep Translucent (It has a gorgeous light-reflective quality with a hint of bronze and photographs beautifully.)

Concealer: Cle De Peau Concealer in Beige

Blush: Almay Smart Shade Blush in Natural, topped with LORAC Oil Free Luminizing Powder in Luminous on apples of the cheeks.

Eyeshadow: Rimmel Colour Rush Mono Eyeshadow in #330 Azure, applied wet and swept over lids and blended down to a sheer finish.

Liquid Liner: Lancome Laque Liner in Pure Black - applied a line across the top lash line, thickening and extending out and upward for a dramatic look.

Brow Highlight Shadow: L'Oreal HiP pigment powder in Restless. (I love to have a bright, crisp brow bone. This champagne hued shadow looks natural yet packs a punch.)

Mascara: Vanitymark 'the LASH' in Blackest. Three coats were applied to really amp up the top lashline. One full coat on the bottom to give eyes definition without overpowering the top lash line.

Faux Lashes: Kre-At Beauty individual lashes. A mix of the short (on the inner eye) and the long (for outer) in black were used to give an alluring sweep.

Body Bronzer: Vanitymark Summerskin, applied first to 'tone down' the tawny shade so Jenna would have a healthy glow without being too tan. (When you're showing that much flesh it's good to have a nice lift of color.)

Lips: Benefit Pocket Pal in Benetint.

Big Props To Rimmel London

Big props to Rimmel London for creating two ab fab mascaras for under $8, and to my BFF Kristen for bringing this brand into my lifestyle.

A few weeks ago, Kristen called me to wax poetic about the fluttertastic virtues of Glam'Eyes Mascara. Like she promised, it delivered high octane lashes like you wouldn't believe. This mascara ain't for the faint of heart, and you wallflowers best save this tube for a night out. It gives the eye a sexy, dramatic look that is sure to set tongues wagging.

But I was most impressed by my impulse buy. CVS was offering a buy one, get one half off promotion...so I also tossed Lash Maxxx Mascara into my basket. This mascara magically multiplies my sparse lashes and gives them a glossy black coat, with zero clumps. The wand takes a little getting used to, as it applies the product with a comb comprised of ultra-fine bristles. But once you get the hang of it, you'll marvel at how believably lush your lashes look. The fringe is so natural, you'll forget that you aren't genetically blessed.

Run your ass out and buy both of these mascaras - for the price of one department store tube!

Oprah's Favorite Things For Summer

Today, Oprah surprised her audience with her top things for summer. When producers first approached O about doing this summer version of her favorite things show, she wasn't feeling it. "My producers pleaded with me to do this topic today, and I didn't want to do it," Oprah said. "So I said, 'Absolutely not. I am not doing Oprah's Favorite Things for summer.'" But after thinking about it, Oprah changed her mind...good thing for her studio audience, fans around the globe, and the brands whose products made the cut.

Gayle King, Oprah's BFF and the editor-at-large of O, The Oprah Magazine, stopped by to unveil her favorite of the Spring Makeup O-wards.

"Don't you hate it when you get something in very pretty packaging, and then you open it up and the product is not as good?" Gayle asks.

"The thing with Yves Saint Laurent is that we thought the packaging was so pretty and we liked all of the products. It was hard to pick just one, so we picked everything in the line—the marbled blush, the lipstick and the eyeshadow."

Another standout is the CoverGirl LashBlast Mascara. "This was the first time anybody's come to the offices with a scientist to explain how [the makeup] works," Gayle says. "This is the scientific explanation: A dual polymer system keeps the mascara from migrating underneath your eyes. That's code for it doesn't smudge."

OPI Nic Stick's Paint & Go Nail Lacquer is a portable pen filled with nail polish, perfect for anyone who smudges as soon as they leave the salon.

No one wants to wear heavy makeup in the summer heat, so Gayle's final two favorites made the grade for their light texture.

"Clé de Peau lipstick is silky and feels light on your lips," Gayle says. "And I like the fact that it's so sleek and slender in your purse." She gave Rimmel Mousse Blush major props for its high-quality, light formula and low price.

Oprah also added one of her beauty faves to the list - NARS Cosmetics Kabuki Artisan Botan Brush.

"I love a great brush," she said. "It's perfect for loose powder, for buffing and for blending."
