Keira Knightley At Chanel Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2009 Show

Keira Knightley loves herself some Chanel. Today, the spokeswoman attended the Chanel Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2009 wearing a Chanel ensemble - and products from Chanel Beauté.

Makeup artist Kay Montano dishes on the inspiration behind Keira’s classic look:

"Keira is such a classic beauty and was wearing a very chic simple Chanel black high neck top and a classic tweed skirt so I decided her make-up look should be very ingénue in contrast to her traditional attire. Keira also has a cool fringe a la Jane Birkin which frames her beautiful eyes so I decided to use her eyes as the focus."

Kay kept Keira's skin very translucent looking with sheer foundation Vitalumiere in Clair followed by a very light dusting of Poudre Universelle Compacte in Beige to give her skin a soft matte texture. Kay then suggested a chocolate plum eye courtesy of Quadra Eye Shadow in Mystic Eyes over a liberal smudging of Intense Eye Pencil in Ambre. The eyes were completed with Automatic Liquid Eyeliner next to the top lashes, edging to a 'rock' version of the classic tick plus lashings of Exceptionnel de Chanel Mascara in Smoky Noir. Powder Blush in Fandango was brushed on the cheeks to give a natural flush. Lips were given a modern retro look with a light slick of Levres Signées Chanel Satin Lip Cream Palette.

English Rose

Fuchsia lip color is the latest manifestation of Fall’s bold red lip. If you need convincing to try this trend, just check out the magenta mouth on Atonement star Keira Knightley.

To coat the entire surface of your lips, InStyle.com recommends smiling while you apply. “It stretches the lip, exposing every furrow to be filled with pigment.”

Going To Great Lengths

Think that celebrities’ hair grows faster than us regular folk? Well, guess again. Tress trendsetters, like Jessica Simpson, regularly rely on hair extensions to transform their manes from mundane to magnificent.

"Fake hair is no longer taboo," says L.A. stylist Jonathan Hanousek. "It has become another fashion accessory."

Clip-in extensions are a great way to change the texture of your hair, while adding length and volume – in mere minutes! Clip-ins provide the look of traditional sewn or glue-bonded extensions, without damage to the hair… they’re perfect for your real-life red carpet moments.

Click here to watch Kim Kimble, The Queen of Hair Extensions, show you how to go to great lengths with do-it-yourself clip-in extensions!

Note: If you decide to purchase clip-in extensions, like HairDo by Jessica Simpson and Ken Paves, be sure to buy human hair – NOT synthetic. Yes, it’s more expensive, but human hair extensions are specially processed so that they can be professionally colored, permed, and/or cut to match your needs. And, unlike synthetic hair, you can wash and use thermal tools on human hair to achieve star style.
