Story: [10 points]
Remakes are tricky business. I say tricky because if a remake deviates too far from the original, you can’t really consider it a remake. However if a remake stays too true to the original film, then it’s little more than a copy. Sadly I cannot base how true or not true it stays to the original since I’ve not seen it, so we will focus on the story which in my opinion was excellent. It did a fantastic job of introducing all the main characters and the plot of the movie stayed on point. Like most horror movies, it didn’t take moving into the film’s final 15 minutes of the movie to reveal what plot devices it had and for you to actually see the beast. So it gets a full ten points.

Acting: [10 points]
The acting was superb. Benicio del Toro’s (Traffic, 21 Grams) portrayal of the title character Lawrence Talbot is dark, mysterious, and at times frightening. Now if you’ve read any of my other articles you’ll see that I talk a lot about the importance of acting jobs in films, over all the acting in this film was spot on. The characters interacted with each other naturally which made the view interact the characters and not the actors. Some actors and films have a serious problem with the interaction between characters which leads to the lines being spoken at each other as oppose to being spoken to each other. The Wolfman pulls in a perfect ten for acting.

Gore and scare factor: [10 points]
If you have a weak stomach, do avoid this movie. We’re talking tons of blood, tons of guts, tons of gore! In terms of whether it was scary, I would lean more towards it was freaky. You know, the kind stuff that makes you go “ewww….”, and with that said, it garners ten points.

Dramatic Effect/level of action: [10 points]
Normally a movie only gets either the scare factor/gore category or this category but for The Wolfman, we’ll make an exception and add it due to the films intense dramatic elements. The only gripe about the film’s dramatic elements was the fact that sometimes the score didn’t fit some of the scenes in the movie, such as a conversation. The music sometimes was a wee bit too fast and/or suspenseful. But other than that tiny blip, the level of drama in the film was very intense but not so intense that it becomes boring or too much. The interactions between del Toro, Blunt, and Hopkins’ characters are what give the film its dramatic emotion mostly. For that, it receives a ten.

Film Score: [10 points]
Now, again if you have read the other reviews you’ll see that I am keen on the score of a film. There are movies where the score at times will deviate from the emotion of a particular scene, be nonexistent where it should be, or the score of the entire movie is wrong in general. The music is what gives a movie its emotion; it’s what depicts the emotion between two people in a movie. The Wolfman’s score was not only a great score, it also fit the tone of the film and aside from some parts being too suspenseful in some areas, over all the film gets a ten for movie score.

Overall movie enjoyment: [10 points]
I enjoyed watching this movie from start to finish. However it’s the type of movie where the viewer needs to be a fan of lycanthrope lore and themed movies for it to truly be appreciated. If you are into those two things, oh and into lots of gore and blood, then this movie is definitely for you.

Final score: 60 out of a maximum of 60 points (this movie is full of win!)

Enter the Dragon

Company: Warner Bros.
Runtime: 102 Minutes (1 Hr. 42 Min.)
Martial Arts Action
Region 1
My Rating: **** out of *****
Rated: R

Do note it will contain scenes mention in the DVD from me.

This movie was to be quite the one to look into when it’s all about Bruce Lee. Which seeing his martial arts portray as it starts when he was given a mission by visiting to a mysterious island in a tournament. Where he must meets w/ Han who is the man that runs the island w/ corruption in drugs, prositutes, tournament & women died from OD in Heroin. But Bruce Lee does have to be in the tournament in order to get closer to Han. As he won’t go alone since there would be others joining in to prove themselves and win the tournament. Since Bruce does meet w/ an important person who has done some undercover role during her time.

Not w/o saying that this movie has a lot of fighting w/ simple melee weapons that doesn’t include guns. According to the story which Han forbids having guns to appear on the island. As he gotten some bad experience as well could be on the hunt for assassins. Han does seem to be a strange guy who simply enjoy seeing anybody who fights goes down in defeat or death. Kien Shih playing as Han doesn’t speak any English which in the movie you notice that somebody else doing the speaking. While that leaves him to match his mouth movements w/ the lines he is doing.

There is a small appearance of Jackie Chan who made an uncredited role as being Han’s henchman who gets a neck snapped by Bruce off-screen. Also in the story which Bruce reason for coming to the island is against Roper who being the responsible of making Bruce’s sister to cause suicide. Overall the movie was pretty good seeing how much fights really connect and there were moments that were decent. Like in the fighting scene during William vs. Han which shows women were being in a 70’s theme w/ face painted and also tattoo style art as well.

I give this movie a **** out of ***** and knowing that if you get a special edition 25th anniversary DVD which you get a bonus of 3 minutes footage. For IMO it didn’t seem much w/ at least 5 minutes or more would be better suited & the disc is dual-sided. Which it does leave in problems of smudges or dusts when you get most of the stuff (Movie & many special features) on one side. I really am disappointed w/ the U.S. trailers to be less than decent when it is almost the same w/ the introductions of the characters/actors. As those gets a one star reduction and it’s still a great movie as if you do like martial arts fighting and/or Bruce Lee? Then get this title!

Story: [8 points]
The Story gets 8 points because it manages to carry from part one very well. Although there are a lot of sequences of events that should have been saved for a future movie. Nonetheless the story grabs you and holds you. For an action/adventure it's very rare to have a decent amount of drama but Transformers 2 manages to pack in just enough drama to keep things tense while still giving you that action that you so love the movie for.

Acting: [9 points]
Shia Labeouf still manages to punch out laughable one liners like in the first one, but knows when to put a serious face on which gives the the movie part of it's dynamic as he is the star of the humans. Josh Duhamel never fails to give a star performance as well as Tyrese Gibson. Kevin Dunn and Julie White who return as the parents of Sam Whitwicky also turn in wildy comedic performances. I only give the movie 9 points, and this is just my personal opinion here, the only one who kills it for me is Megan Fox, who like in the first film trolls through her role like she's sleep walking, putting little to no effort into her performance. But hey, how many of us truly went to see it for the humans?

Level of Action: [10 points]
Wicked action scenes make this movie wildly entertaining especially in IMAX. The transformations in the movie are another big part of the film's dynamic and they didn't fail to deliver. With the addition of new robots on both sides made the final scenes of part one look like spoiled milk compared to the final scenes in this installment, very excellent.

Score and/or soundtrack: [10 points]
Like the first one, the soundtrack doesn't fail on giving the film it's emotion, in every scene. The score is very well composed and conducted and one of the most excellent scores for an action movie I've heard. Linkin Park returning to do a song for Transformers also helped boost the soundtrack.

Overall Movie Enjoyment: [10 points]
I saw this movie in IMAX and it blew me away, from start to finish it made me laugh, cry, and held me firmly to my chair, it's definitely a movie you'll want to add to your DVD or Blu-Ray collection. And of course, the biggest enjoyment of the movie? The Robots. I'd name you a favorite, but who can really pick one? All in all? Awesomely good movie.

The movie is expected to release on DVD and Blu-Ray on October 20, 2009.

Total point score: 47 out of 50

Film Reviews: The Final Destination

The Final Destination: Review
So, I saw The Final Destination in 3D opening weekend and I was already unimpressed with the amount of other movie goers in the theater, no more than a scatter of people, far less than what's expected at an opening weekend.....
Directed by: David R. Ellis
Starring: Bobby Campo, Shantel VanStanten, Haley Webb, Nick Zano, Krista Allen
Running time: 81 mins.
Release Date(s): August 28, 2009

Point system: 1 to 10 for each category.

Story: [1 point]
The Story gets one point. And here's why. The first installment of Final Destination was scary, and it actually made you question getting on a plane. The story made Death almost like a sadistic serial killer, picking off it's victims one by one, and by the end you left the theater a little more than freaked. Part 2 actually tied the characters in with part 1, which made the story, while a little bored, doable. Part 3 is where they began to stray off the path in terms of story, focusing more on gore and less on storytelling. Final Destination 3's story and plot was very flaky. But this one takes the cake as your still trying to figure out what death's design for the character's are, and in the end, your left scratching your head....

Acting: [1 point]
If your not too busy trying to figure out what the plot is, your dying from the sheer cardboard acting. The comic relief of the film comes off as cold, the star comes off less like trying to figure things out and more like a guy without a clue, and the leading lady sounds like she's reading her lines straight off the script paper, horrible.

Gore and/or Scary factor: [5 points]
I'll admit that they didn't skimp on the gore, but at time's it's a bit over the top. But it works if your watching it in 3D. Watch it elsewhere and might not be so enjoyable.

Movie Score: [1 point]
The Final Destination theme was one of the most scary things about the series....Until Brian Tyler put his Fast and Furious spin on it. That is one thing they could have left as is. The soundtrack itself is your standard alternative rock soundtrack, nothing memorable about it.

Overall Movie Enjoyment: [7 points]
I give it 7 points because while the story and acting was terrible, I still had a good time watching it, it's even more enjoyable watching it in 3D. If your into insane gore, this movie is for you.
