No, you're not seeing double. Last week, Diddy unveiled his wax doppleganger at Madame Tussauds New York.
Diddy spent more than an hour with a team of Madame Tussauds studio artists to start the creation process with him. The artists took hundreds of precise measurements and photos, to ensure exact matches for his eye color and skin tone.
Diddy also donated a replica of the outfit he wore in his I Am King fragrance ad, which includes a white Battistoni dinner jacket, black dinner trousers by Jones New York, Hugo Boss white tuxedo shirt, black Ferragamo shoes and a black bowtie, cufflinks and shirt studs by Pronto Uomo.
If you visit Diddy's wax figure and get close enough, you might catch a whiff of "unique masculine freshness, sparkling fruits and sensual woods"...because Diddy, being Diddy, provided Madame Tussauds with a bottle of I Am King to spray on his wax twin. Personally, I'm partial to Unforgivable, his first fragrance.
Think it takes you a long time getting ready to go out? You probably don't primp as long as Sean "P Diddy" Combs. But considering he's one of the most well-groomed gents in the business, it should come as no surprise. The media mogul recently sat down with the UK's Daily Mail for a piece entitled, How to... Party like P Diddy. Here's an excerpt:
I have my own particular ritual for getting ready, which takes about two hours, but before I settle on an outfit, I like to try on lots of different ones, and I'll have a long bath beforehand. I may change twice in an evening and I'll always have a spare outfit on hand if something happens to the one I'm wearing.
The dress code for the Hollywood party was 'sexy formal', and I loved the outfit I eventually wore, which was a vintage white tuxedo jacket. I had a real 'black Sinatra' look going on. Otherwise, I like to wear things from my Sean John line.
My clothing line is like fashion Viagra. While I'm getting ready I like to relax with a drink – vodka and lemonade – and listen to my music, usually some James Brown.
Then I'll have a manicure and pedicure – and yes, I wax as well. Grooming's very important and men owe it to women to make sure they're well groomed.
I wax my privates. I'll also wear my fragrance, Unforgivable Black. You can tell a lot by a man's fragrance, and either you have good taste or you can smell like your grandfather. In everything I do, I visualise myself either putting clothes on or taking them off.
Last Friday, I was scheduled to be backstage at Sean John*. I was super excited to be attending the closing show of New York Fashion Week.
I fantasized that Diddy and I would meet, he’d be captivated by my charm, and then whisk me away to the star-studded soiree.
It would play out like that R. Kelly/Jay Z collabo:
After the show it's the after party and After the party is the hotel lobby and After the Belve then it's probably Cris…
But that didn’t happen. In fact, the closest I got to the Sean John show was a pizzeria on the corner of 22nd Street & 6th Ave. I was grabbing a bite there when I got a call from MAC telling me that there were no female models in the show, and therefore no need for MAC makeup. I was bummed, but also exhausted from my travels; so I caught an early train back to Philly.
So sorry, beauties. I know you were anxious for me to dish the Diddy dirt. C'est la vie.
If you absolutely need a Puffy fix, Glamour.com has an article entitled "Diddy knows pretty," in which the hip-hop mogul/designer shares his observations on what makes a woman irresistible. Here’s an excerpt:
Why he named his perfume Unforgivable Woman: “It’s about being unapologetic. It’s about having swagger. Confidence is such a sexy, sexy quality.”
Makeup trend he’s so over: “Red lipstick just isn’t working for me. It might be good for an awards show, but it’s not hot to kiss. I love natural lip color—that’s always a good look!”
Biggest beauty obsession: “Sugar Bath Cubes by Fresh. I take a bath every night. I love the way they make my skin feel. I have very soft skin—go ahead, touch it!”
On Friday, I'll be backstage with MAC at Sean John. So here's a little something to whet your appetite...
In the March issue of Marie Claire, this bad boy combs through the contents of his Fashion Week survival kit – and discloses why these products made the cut.
1) Louis Vuitton Bequia Bag: “Gotta give it up for the LV. Their stuff is tight. These bags are stylish yet masculine – like me.”
2) Sean John Classic Aviators: “It’s all about style – and these shades add instant swagger.”
3) Fiji Water: “It tastes so pure and keeps me hydrated when I’m running around.”
4) Unforgivable Eau de Toilette: “My scent is a part of me; it’s what’s left behind when I exit a room. I never leave home without smelling right.”
