Award Winning FOTD


Last night, I attended the PRSA/Philadelphia Pepperpot Awards - a celebration of outstanding performance in public relations by practitioners in agencies, industry, government, and non-profit organizations. The American Cancer Society’s Marketing Department (of which I am a member) was nominated for our efforts to pass Clean Indoor Air (smoke-free) legislation in Pennsylvania.

The Pepperpot Award has grown into one of the most coveted awards in the field of public relations, so I pulled out the big guns and went all out with my makeup. It’s a good thing I did, because my team ended up winning first place in the Public Affairs category! Yay us!

And the icing on the cake? Charm City Cakes, the bakery featured in the Food Network series, Ace of Cakes, created a magnificent confection that looked just like an actual pepperpot!

New From Besame: Gingerbread 1930s Waterproof Mascara


Gingerbread isn’t something the average person would naturally associate with this time of year. But Besame is about to change all that.

Originally developed in the 30s, it contains only 8 ingredients (paraben-free and allergy-tested) to impart gorgeous and defined lashes. The formula is waterproof, but washes off easily with a mild cleaner. The “gingerbread” refers to the conditioning oils (which won’t irritate eyes and smell heavenly), not the color; food grade colorants give this mascara a deep, glossy black hue.

Besame Mucho

If you let me loose in a makeup store, chances are I'm going to head for the lipsticks and glosses first. I gravitate towards pinks and neutrals, and don't usually give reds the time of day. Oh how wrong I've been.

I was recently introduced to Besame's Enchanting Lipstick in Red Velvet, and it has absolutely has won me over. This might sound odd, but I would compare it to a Jersey gown…while wearing it, you look ultra-feminine and sophisticated - but feel completely comfortable.

Red Velvet is a neutral red, so it's wearable and compliments a variety of skin tones. The creamy, semi-matte finish ensures an elegant lip look that won't feather. And I'm impressed by the unique double design – use the tip to line lips before filling in. Genius!

And how gorgeous is the gold bullet packaging? I imagine iconic beauties like Grace Kelly and Dorothy Dandridge carried something like this in their purses. Or perhaps a Bond girl might hide this in her décolletage.

Apply straight from the tube for a boldly pigmented pout. Or dab on with your finger for an effortless-looking stain. If you're more of a gloss gal (I feel ya), swipe Besame's Enriched Lip Glaze in Crystal on top…it's non-sticky and smells faintly of coconut.
