Cameron Crowe, who wrote, directed and produced the Oscar winning movies "Jerry Maguire" and "Almost Famous," is set to direct 20th Century Fox's feature "We Bought a Zoo."
Casting will begin once Crowe completes rewriting the original script written by Aline Brosh McKenna.
Movie is based on Benjamin Mee's memoir, which is about a widowed man who buys a dilapidated zoo in hopes of making a fresh start after his wife died from a fatal illness. He and his children, along with a small but loyal staff, work to get the zoo reopened.
Julie Yorn ("Bride Wars," "Alice") is producing the feature, which is scheduled to be released in December 23, 2011.
