It’s the lay of the land these days, as rising actors make tough career decisions, trading one high profile role for another. Just as Jennifer Lawrence dropped out of Oliver Stone’s “Savages” to take the lead role in “The Hunger Games”, now Lily Collins has been confirmed to be officially passing on the adaptation of Dean Koontz’s “Odd Thomas” opposite Anton Yelchin after taking the title role in Tarsem Singh’s “Snow White” instead. Variety reports today that“Californication” actress Addison Timlin is now in negotiations for the role vacated by Collins, Stormy Llewellyn.
Set in a California desert town, Odd Thomas follows Thomas (Yelchin), “a short-order cook with clairvoyant abilities who encounters a mysterious man with a link to dark, threatening forces.” Stormy (Timlin) is Thomas’s girlfriend and the only one who knows the truth of his abilities.
Timlin emerged as filmmakers’ – including director Stephen Sommers, who also wrote the script – favorite after Collins passed, beating out fellow rising young actresses like Emma Roberts,Portia Doubleday and Kat Dennings. She made her acting debut in the national tour of “Annie” and has been receiving a lot of notice portraying David Duchovny’s love interest in the current season of “Californication”. She also appeared as Clive Owen’s daughter in 2005′s “Derailed”.
