Matt Damon is in early negotiations to star in Cameron Crowe's "We Bought a Zoo" for 20th Century Fox.
Crowe is now rewriting the original script written by Aline Brosh McKenna.
Movie is based on Benjamin Mee's memoir, which is about a widowed man who buys a dilapidated zoo in hopes of making a fresh start after his wife died from a fatal illness. He and his children, along with a small but loyal staff, work to get the zoo reopened.
No words still on which character Damon will play, but high chances that he will star as Benjamin Mee, if talks are successful.
Julie Yorn ("Bride Wars," "Alice") is producing the feature, which is scheduled to be released in December 23, 2011.
